A 16-year-old boy was arrested Thursday on suspicion of threatening to bomb Washougal High School.
On Tuesday morning, a handwritten note directed at the high school campus was found in a bathroom stall.
The Washougal Police Department and a Clark County bomb squad briefly shut down the school for a search, but investigators found no explosive devices in any of the rooms.
Classes resumed shortly after 11 a.m., about an hour after the evacuation. Earlier in the morning, administrators notified all parents in the district about the situation using an automated emergency call system.
The incident prompted an investigation into the source of the threat.
The juvenile suspect, who was not identified, is a student at the high school, said Sgt. Geoff Reijonen. The boy was taken to the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center, where he was booked on suspicion of threat to bomb or injure property, a felony.
Police continue investigating what happened, and additional arrests are possible. There’s no evidence that an explosive was on campus, Washougal police said.
