More than 1,000 children from Vancouver and Evergreen schools will reflect their family roots Friday in the Children’s Cultural Parade at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.

The 13th annual parade will begin at 10:15 a.m. at Pearson Air Museum, 1115 E. Fifth St.

Grand marshal will be Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt.

The marchers will head north up East Reserve Street to Evergreen Boulevard, where they will turn west and continue along Officers Row.

The route turns south just past the Fort Vancouver Visitors Center and follows the access road through the middle of the park down to East Fifth Street. The route continues to the re-created Fort Vancouver and through the gates of the stockade.

The parade members will gather on the grassy area in front of the chief factor’s residence.

High school bands from the Evergreen and Vancouver districts will provide the music during the parade and also will provide pre-parade entertainment.

Buses are scheduled to head back to their schools at 11:40 a.m.

Starting at 8 a.m., city work crews will set up barricades, as well as detour markers, along roads that are part of the parade route.
