Two bicyclists sustained significant injuries Wednesday evening in a crash north of Lewisville Park near Battle Ground.

A sport-utility vehicle was westbound on Northeast 299th Street and struck two men who were also westbound riding bicycles, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office said. The crash was reported at 5:13 p.m. near Northeast 128th Avenue.

Both bicyclists were transported by ambulance to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the SUV, an 80-year-old man, said that he couldn’t see the bicyclists because of sun glare, the sheriff’s office said. He remained at the scene of the crash and cooperated with investigators. Excessive speed and alcohol were ruled out as possible factors in the crash, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office, which continues investigating what happened, did not release the names of those involved in the crash.
