The Woodland softball team beat Rochester 7-5 and Tumwater 11-0 at the 2A district tournament on Thursday to clinch a berth to state.

The Beavers will play W.F. West of Chehalis at 6 p.m. Friday for the district title at Fort Borst Park in Centralia.

In the first game, Rochester led 3-1 before the Beaveres tied the game on Haylee Michaud’s fifth-inning double.

The Beavers tallied four runs in the sixth with RBI doubles by Jessica Flanagan and Kendall Grell and RBI singles by Michaud and Lila Russell.

Doubles by Flanagan and Michaud helped the Beavers take a 3-0 lead on Tumwater after three innings. Woodland put the game out of reach with five in the fourth inning.

The tournament didn’t got well for Hockinson and Ridgefield. Both teams lost twice and were eliminated.

Hockinson fell 11-1 to Tumwater and 4-2 to Black Hills. Ridgefield lost 5-0 to W.F. West and 6-5 to Rochester.
