College notebook: Hubbard, N.C. State in UO Super Regional

Freshman pitcher Harli Hubbard’s North Carolina State team is playing the first NCAA Division I Super Regional in program history this weekend at Oregon. The winner of the best-of-three series advances to the Women’s College World Series.

The Camas High School graduate has appeared in five games for the Wolfpack, with no decisions or saves and an earned run average of 9.33 in a total of three innings pitched.

Games are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, noon Saturday and 3 p.m. Saturday if necessary. All will be televised on ESPNU, cable Channel 411.

Track and field: Gilbert, Goecke run at Pac-12 championships

A pair of redshirt freshmen from Clark County high schools competed in the Pacific-12 Conference Track and Field Championships held Saturday and Sunday at UCLA’s Drake Stadium in Los Angeles.

• Washington’s Colby Gilbert, a Skyview High School graduate, finished 11th in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14 minutes, 15.15 seconds.

• Oregon State’s Nicole Goecke, a Prairie High School graduate, placed 14th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:55.77.

Golf: Whiles leads Cavaliers at NAIA nationals

Kelsey Whiles placed 46th at the NAIA Women’s Golf National Championships that concluded last Friday in Pooler, Ga., as the sophomore helped the Cavaliers to 16th place in the team standings.

The Hockinson High School graduate shot 79-75-81-82—317 over four rounds at Savannah Quarters Country Club.

Concordia senior Madison Alamillo, a Battle Ground High School graduate, shot 85-83-92-79—339 as the Cavaliers’ fifth scoring player.

Concordia’s top 20 team finish was the program’s 10th in the last 11 seasons.

Golf: Hall third in NWAC golf

Bellevue College sophomore Chad Hall shot 77-65—142 at the Northwest Athletic Conference Championships this week, finishing third at Oakbrook Golf and Country Club in Lakewood. The Bulldogs were second in the final team scoring.

The Battle Ground High School graduate, an All-NWAC selection who has signed to play at Cal State East Bay, had the lowest round of any golfer on the second day.
