They might be gigantic fans

Northwest — Ryan Hanrahan, a senior at the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, and a bunch of his family members and friends were all given the VIP treatment during the They Might Be Giants concert at the Roseland Theater in Portland on May 8.

That’s because Hanrahan was the visionary videographer hired to make “No School Today,” accompanying a kid-friendly solo tune by Giants bass player Danny Weinkauf. The fun video was released last year and Hanrahan was on the Giants’ guest list on May 8 — and so were his sister Betsy, mother Junelle Lawry, buddy Jadyn Turley, and Jadyn’s mother and sister too.

The whole crowd hung out with Weinkauf in the green room before the show; after, there were autographs and special souvenirs such as guitar picks and the musicians’ set list.
