Hough — The third annual Craft Winefest of Vancouver is June 12-14 at Esther Short Park, and at a tasting on May 9, a few local wineries were selected to have their products at the festival.

Twenty-three wineries submitted products and 14 different wines were honored from 12 wineries. Judging was organized by Columbia Willamette Enological Society, with board member Ed Grubel serving as chief judge, along with a panel of five industry experts.

The top honorees included Olequa Cellars’ 2013 Riesling in the white wine category, Five Star Cellars’ 2009 cabernet sauvignon in the red varietal category, Pomeroy Cellars’ 2012 Lucia No. 47 in the red blend category, Daybreak Cellars’ 2014 Tempranillo in the rosé category and Mill Lane Winery’s Ice Wine in the fruit/dessert category.

Mayor Tim Leavitt also sat in on judging, and honored wines from Heisen House Vineyards, Burnt Bridge Cellars, English Estate and Daybreak Cellars as Mayor’s Picks.
