An Idaho man and his two children, whom he allegedly abducted, were found by police Wednesday afternoon near the border of Lewis and Cowlitz counties.
A local Amber Alert was issued earlier in the day for Joshua Reavis, 31, his 2-year-old daughter, Estaleyn-Ophelia Reavis, and 3-year-old son, Slevin Reavis, after they were seen in Oregon, where Joshua Reavis told someone he was heading to Seattle. He does not have custody of the children and abducted them earlier in the week from their home in Nampa, Idaho, officials said.
The children’s belongings and camping gear were taken from their home when they were abducted, police said. Nampa police said they believed the children were in imminent danger because of their father’s “psychological issues.”
Around 2:45 p.m., a driver heading north on Interstate 5 in the Castle Rock area called 911, saying they were following the gold 2000 Honda Odyssey that had been broadcast over the radio through the Amber Alert. A Washington State Patrol trooper and a Castle Rock police officer pulled over the van near Milepost 58.
Joshua Reavis was placed into police custody and the children were safely recovered, WSP said.
