Four additional days of tribal commercial salmon fishing begin today in the Bonneville, The Dalles and John Day pools of the Columbia River.
Members of the Yakama, Umatilla, Warm Springs and Nez Perce tribes will net from 6 a.m. today through 6 p.m. Friday.
A catch of about 4,000 spring chinook is anticipated along with fewer than 50 steelhead and perhaps a few sockeye.
Last week, the tribes caught 4,487 spring chinook, fewer than projected. Tribal fishermen are anticipated to have 3,000 chinook on their allocation after this week.
State and tribal officials may consider another fishing period next week.
