Vancouver Public Schools has announced several administrative changes for the 2015-16 school year. Assignments are subject to school board approval.
High schools
• Skyview High School: Principal Kym Tyelyn-Carlson will move to the district office. Jim Gray, current associate principal, will become principal. Associate principal will be Luke LeCount, currently associate principal at Jason Lee Middle School.
• Hudson’s Bay High School: Joseph Accuardi-Gilliam and Andy Meyer will be associate principals. Both are interim associate principals this year.
Middle schools
• Gaiser Middle School: Casey Greco will be associate principal. He currently is interim associate principal.
• Jason Lee Middle School: Lisa Reed will be associate principal. She currently is a teacher at Discovery Middle School.
Elementary schools
• Benjamin Franklin Elementary: Laura Dilley, principal at Franklin Elementary, will retire in June with 34 years of service. The new principal will be Woody Howard, currently principal of Hazel Dell Elementary.
• Chinook Elementary: Matthew Fechter will be associate principal. He currently is associate principal at Sarah J. Anderson.
• Eleanor Roosevelt Elementary: Jessica Graham will be associate principal. She currently is half-time associate principal.
• Felida Elementary: Katie Ronning will be half-time associate principal at Felida and Hazel Dell. She currently is associate principal at King and Felida.
• Hazel Dell Elementary: Mychael Irwin will be principal. Irwin currently is an elementary principal in Reynolds School District (Ore.). Katie Ronning will be half-time associate principal. She currently is associate principal at King and Felida.
• Hough Elementary: Principal Eva Unger will retire in June with more than 21 years of service. The new principal will be Steve Vance, a former district special services administrator who currently is an elementary principal in White Pass School District.
• Martin Luther King Elementary: Jaime Silva will be associate principal, who currently works at Pasco School District.
• Peter S. Ogden Elementary: Sara Tackett will be associate principal. She currently is a teacher on special assignment in the Learning Assistance Program.
• Sarah J. Anderson Elementary: Katie Arkoosh will be associate principal. She currently is special services manager.
• Walnut Grove Elementary: Mark Jordan will be associate principal. He currently is associate at Walnut Grove and Chinook elementary schools.
District office
• Travis Campbell will be chief academic officer, a new role dedicated to school improvement. Campbell has been director of K-12 Student and School Success at the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction since 2012. Previously, Campbell held leadership and teaching positions during a 13-year tenure at Clover Park School District in Lakewood.
• Mark Ray will assume the role of chief digital officer to fill in for the departure of Jay Keuter, chief information officer. Ray, currently director of instructional technology and library services, will provide overall leadership to Information and Technology Services and the district’s weLearn one-to-one digital transformation plan.
• Kym Tyelyn-Carlson, currently Skyview principal, will be executive director of teaching and learning, a new position at the district administrative office. She will provide leadership with the district’s on-time graduation initiative and growing alternative learning programs.
