A driver accused of causing a single-vehicle crash that seriously injured two of his passengers was arraigned Friday in Clark County Superior Court.

Fisianty Bossi, 19, of Vancouver entered not-guilty pleas to two counts of vehicular assault and second-degree driving with a suspended license.

One of his passengers, 17-year-old Jermaine J. Danis was initially expected not to survive. He suffered severe head trauma and fractures to his spine and ribs, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Superior Court. However, Danis was listed in serious condition Friday at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, according to a hospital spokesman. He was previously listed in critical condition.

Bossi was allegedly driving a 2004 Pontiac west on MacArthur Boulevard near Devine Road about 3 a.m. May 1 when the car hit several trees and rocks in the median, crossed into eastbound lanes and rolled before coming to rest on its top in the grass south of the street.

A second passenger, Billyboi Koichy, 20, of Vancouver, suffered abrasions and lacerations to his head and pain and bruising to his right leg and shoulder.

All three of the vehicle’s occupants are reportedly cousins.

Police said they believe alcohol and excessive speed were factors in the crash.

During his arraignment, Bossi’s defense attorney, Nick Wood, asked Judge Derek Vanderwood to consider reducing his client’s bail. Bossi is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. Vanderwood declined to reduce his bail because of the uncertainty of Danis’ condition.

Bossi’s trial is scheduled to start June 29.
