Heading into summer, the Washougal School District will kick off its pre-construction phase on three new campuses next month with a design symposium.
The symposium, set for 5 p.m. June 4 at Jemtegaard Middle School, is a chance for the public to weigh in. The discussion will be led by a team from LSW Architects, which will create designs for the buildings.
Construction on an elementary and middle school with a shared roof next to Jemtegaard will not begin for at least another year, possibly two. Work is set to start in June 2016 on a new campus for Excelsior, Washougal’s small alternative high school.
Funding for these and several other facilities projects comes from a $57.7 million bond measure, which passed in a February special election. The thrust of the projects is to increase capacity and improve student safety at several campuses.
The district will serve a light dinner at the symposium. Those who plan to attend should RSVP with Cassi Marshall or Kori Kelly at 360-954-3005 or cassi.marshall@wahsougalsd.org.
