The YWCA Clark County will benefit from the attention of the United Way of the Columbia-Willamette on May 20.

As part of “More than 24,” a regionwide campaign aimed at bringing out both volunteers and donated dollars, the United Way plans to deploy a group of volunteers to spruce up the grounds of the Y, which is one of its regular beneficiaries. Projects will include painting picnic tables and benches, planting flowers and cleaning up the gazebo.

Volunteers are welcome for the event, which is set for 1 to 3 p.m. May 20 at the YWCA Clark County, 3609 Main St. in Vancouver. To get involved, sign up with the United Way’s volunteer clearinghouse, Hands On Greater Portland, at http://www.handsonportland.org.

The United Way is hosting volunteer outings next week in each of the four Portland-area counties it serves. It all culminates in a day of charitable giving — aimed at improving the lives of children and families in poverty — on May 21. To learn more and make a donation, visit MoreThan24.org.

This event is similar to the Community Foundation of Southwest Washington’s own “Give More 24!” event, which is set for Sept. 24.
