Roads No. 26 and 99 on the east side of Mount St. Helens will open for the season on Friday.
Road No. 99 is the route leading to popular Windy Ridge viewpoint overlooking Spirit Lake.
Monday is the 35th anniversary of the massive May 18, 1980 blast of Mount St. Helens.
Special interpretive talks will be offered at 1:30 p.m, 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday at Windy Ridge Amphitheater and again on May 23 through 25 for Memorial Day Weekend.
Regular daily interpretive programs at Windy Ridge and along road No. 99 begin on June 27.
Lantern rentals at Ape Cave will be available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays beginning May 23, then daily beginning June 27.
Forest roads Nos. 81 and 83 are open for the season, as is road No. 81-830 to Climber’s Bivouac.
