The Gifford Pinchot National Forest has scheduled three public meetings to share its draft Travel Analysis Report, which displays where the Forest Service plans to prioritize investments in road infrastructure and maintenance.
The three meetings will be:
May 21, 6 p.m., Rock Creek Hegewald Center, 710 S.W. Rock Creek Drive, Stevenson.
May 27, 6 p.m., Randle Fire Hall, U.S. Highway 12, Randle.
May 28, 6 p.m., forest headquarters, 10600 N.E. 51st Circle.
The draft report is part of a 2005 Travel Management Rule and requires forests to provide a road system that is financially and environmentally sustainable and can be maintained realistically.
Federal law requires the public be given notice and a chance to comment before any decision to change the status of roads on the forest are made, said Janine Clayton, Pinchot supervisor.
The draft report will be posted online prior to the meetings.
