Battle Ground — For the first time in their five-year history, the 4-H CloverBots clinched a spot in the First Robotics Competition World Championship, which took place April 22 to 25 in St. Louis. The robotics team, backed by Washington State University Clark County Extension 4-H and CAM Academy, is made up of high school students from around the county. The competition featured more than 18,000 students from 40 countries. After 10 qualifying matches, the CloverBots were one of 32 teams from their 76-team division to secure a spot in the elimination round. “”Our mentors and students persevered and worked very hard for this well-deserved honor,” Brenda Johnson, one of the team’s coaches, said in a release from the team. “It is such a great program for our youths, and this championship truly represents the inspiration and recognition of science and technology in our community.”
