An Air Force veteran who is project director of a college veterans’ support center will be featured speaker Tuesday at Clark College.

The 2 p.m. event will be part of Clark College’s observance of Memorial Day, honoring those who have given their lives in service to this country. (The college is closed on Memorial Day, May 25.)

The free program will be in room 161 of the Penguin Union Building on the main campus, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way.

Guest speaker Samantha Powers is the project director and a trainer for the Veterans Training Support Center at Edmonds Community College. Powers is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command, serving in Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan as an aircraft maintenance officer for C-130 gunships.

Powers is a member of several veterans organizations in Washington.

The program will be presented by the Clark College Veterans Resource Center. Clark College serves more than 400 veterans each year. The center helps them navigate their veterans’ benefits and access other resources they have earned through their service.
