Aliyah Petersen, a student at Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, served as a page last month in the Washington State House of Representatives, sponsored by state Rep. Sharon Wylie, D-Vancouver. Aliyah is the daughter of Melissa and Jason Petersen of Vancouver. She is a violinist and volunteers at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center.
MASONIC AWARD WINNERS
Woodland High School juniors Cierra Daugherty and Dillon Franke were selected as Outstanding Juniors by the Longview Masonic Lodge. The awards are based on academic achievement, citizenship, and school and community involvement.
WASHINGTON SCHOLARS
Recently, 654 high school seniors from 263 schools throughout the state were honored by the state as Washington Scholars in recognition of their academic achievements, leadership and community service. The students, representing the top 1 percent of graduating seniors, are nominated by their principals.
