The Clark College baseball team ended its season on a high note, beating Clackamas 7-5 in the second game of an NWAC South Region doubleheader Saturday at Kindsfather Field.

The Penguins will miss out on the postseason, however, as they needed a sweep of Clackamas and for Linn-Benton to be swept by Chemeketa. Neither happened.

Clark dropped the first game to Clackamas 4-1, while Linn-Benton split its doubleheader to earn the South’s No. 4 playoff spot.

Union High grad Colton Krueger (4-2) earned the win in his final start for the Penguins, allowing two runs on six hits with four strikeouts in five innings. He finishes the season with a 1.58 ERA.

Clark (21-23, 10-14) scored six times in the third inning and held off Clackamas from there. Quintin Carlson and Ian Sugrue each had two hits with a double and RBI. (Click here for complete Game 2 boxscore)

In the opener, Clackamas (14-26, 6-18) held Clark to three hits, all by Dylan Knoth. James Himes’ bases-loaded walk in the seventh scored Clark’s only run. (Click here for complete Game 1 boxscore)
