BEND, Ore. — Mount Bachelor will close for the season beginning Monday, two weeks earlier than intended.

“With so little snow remaining in our base areas, the goal of staying open until Memorial Day weekend is no longer realistic,” said Dave Rathbun, Mount Bachelor president and general manager.

The central Oregon ski area has received 212 inches of snow since Oct. 1, far below the 462-inch average. Only three winters have delivered less snow.

The resort will begin its summer season on July 3 with downhill mountain biking, sunset dinners, scenic chairlift rides, disc golf and sled dog rides.
