A sedan crashed through the Interstate 5 guardrail and rolled about 30 or 40 feet down a gully Thursday morning near the Clark County Fairgrounds.

Technical rescue crews with Fire District 6 and the Vancouver Fire Department were sent to the crash around 7:30 a.m. on I-5 northbound near Northeast 194th Street, said District 6 spokeswoman Sarah Walton.

Crews had to cut the vehicle off of the driver, who had a fractured femur, Walton said. She said that it takes a lot of force to fracture a femur — considered the strongest bone in the human body — and the injury can be serious.

The man, whose name was not available, was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.
