The La Center Education Association, which represents 79 teachers, will not join other teachers from local school districts in a May 13 walkout.
Instead, the La Center teachers will have informational pickets before and after school on May 13, said Liz Crandall, union president. The decision was made by the union’s executive board on Monday.
In an e-mail statement, the union said it “supports the districts that have chosen a day of action on May 13. While others have elected to stage a walkout, we have chosen to build community awareness through educational activities before and after school. Our members look forward to engaging with the La Center community to convince the Legislature to fulfill its paramount duty.”
