TACOM — Crews are battling a smokestack fire at the U.S. Oil and Refining Co. that is sending plumes of black smoke across the sky at the Port of Tacoma in Washington state.
Flames could be seen shooting out of the top of the smokestack Wednesday.
The Tacoma Fire Department says that no injuries or evacuations have been reported and that crude oil in the smokestack was burning off.
Seattle news station KIRO-TV reports that firefighters are maintaining a 600-foot collapse zone around the burning stack.
