Morning low clouds and sunny afternoons were the weekend forecast. And sure enough, they were present Saturday morning, but not everywhere. The usual locations, like the ocean beaches, were clear and sunny. So was the Puget Sound region and areas south of Vancouver. Looking at the satellite picture early Saturday, the thickest low clouds were in Clark County.
No worry, though; that is just a preview of June’s weather. June is usually cloudier than May, with the regimen of morning clouds and afternoon sunshine. May still has enough instability, with weather systems moving through, to keep the low clouds away.
And speaking of weather systems, when will the next one arrive? Forecast charts show it on Tuesday, maybe with some showers. The main storm track has been just to our north, much as usual this time of the year. Rain and showers have been confined to Canada and occasionally northern Washington.
Things are getting desperate in California now, with talk of trying to get some of our water piped down. Heard that decades ago. We may not have water to spare. Our snow pack is not good this year.
You may see a couple more pretty sunsets as smoke and dust from Siberia were traveling along the jet stream toward the West Coast.
