Firefighters battled a fire early Sunday morning that started in the utility room of a Battle Ground home.
Crews were dispatched at about 1:30 a.m. to the house at 303 S.E. Second Ave. Firefighters from Clark County Fire & Rescue and Fire District 6 responded, said Clark County Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Tim Dawdy.
The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported, Dawdy said.
Fire investigators determined that the flames were started by a surge protector or something that was plugged into it inside the home’s utility room, Clark County Assistant Fire Marshal Richard Martin said. The fire heavily damaged the utility room and caused smoke and heat damage throughout the house, Martin said.
The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, Martin said.
