A weak weather system brought a few light sprinkles Friday night and early Saturday but most areas had only a trace. There were a few hit-and-miss showers Saturday, but some sunshine too. Today will be a nice day, with varying amounts of clouds here and there. Highs will be back up in the 60s — maybe 70? (need the sun).
The week ahead looks more typical of April, so it is a good thing April 1 rolls in on Wednesday. It will be cool and showery. No fooling. Off-and-on showers will begin Tuesday, lasting into the weekend. They won’t be a total washout, just the on-again, off-again type. Cooler air aloft will promise more snow in the higher Cascades and occasionally at pass levels or below.
I also wouldn’t rule out a clap of thunder, hail or rainbows this week. But, after all, it will be April and following the fickle month of March, April likes to tease. A hint of late spring or early summer, then a dash of winter chilling one’s soul. Sun-breaks after rain showers and steam rising off roadways and rooftops.
April is my favorite spring month, with all the weather mentioned above and a splash of color around every corner. The scent of lilacs as their vibrant perfume calms the mind. The smell of fresh-turned garden soil. Earthworms wiggling, anxious to get back underground. Garden centers filled with summer annuals, just waiting for a home and a sunny exposure.
