Colton Krueger hit a solo home run in the fifth inning and Javi Villanueva pitched a complete-game three-hit shutout as the Clark College baseball team beat Lane 1-0 Saturday for a split of South Region doubleheader at Kindsfather Field.

Krueger, a Union High grad, also drove in Clark’s only run in the first game as the Penguins fell 8-1.

Clark (9-11, 2-2) finished the weekend with a four-game split against the Titans in the region openers.

Villanueva, a Heritage grad, struck out six in seven innings with two walks for the win in the second game. Villanueva is now 4-0 with a 2.21 ERA.

Lane (10-9, 2-2) kept the Clark bats mostly silent in Saturday’s doubleheader. The Penguins had just three hits in the win and four in the loss.

In the first game, Krueger’s sacrifice fly in the seventh inning brought home Sam Kosbab for the Penguins’ lone run.

Clark’s next four-game series is against Mt. Hood. Friday’s doubleheader is at 1 p.m. in Gresham, Ore., and Saturday’s is at 1 p.m. at Kindsfather Field.
