A pickup driver struck and severed a utility pole Wednesday afternoon while driving south of La Center.

The driver was northbound on Northwest 11th Avenue when she got distracted and drifted off the roadway, said Clark County Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Tim Dawdy. The vehicle struck a power pole, and the impact split the pole. The crash was reported to 911 at 2:24 p.m. in the 28900 block of 11th Avenue.

Medics from American Medical Response were across the street dealing with another 911 call when they heard the crash. They checked on the woman, who refused medical treatment, Dawdy said.

Police directed traffic while Clark Public Utilities repaired the pole.
