The cause of death for a 32-year-old Clark County Jail inmate is still being determined by the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Mycheal Lynch of Vancouver died Sunday, two days after he experienced a medical emergency while being relocated at the jail.

Vancouver police arrested Lynch on Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving and hit and run of an unattended vehicle. He was booked into the jail shortly after 6 p.m. Friday and was placed in the jail’s medical unit, which houses inmates who need to be isolated for medical reasons separate from mental health problems, Jail Chief Ric Bishop said.

Two and a half hours later, Lynch initiated an alarm, sending deputies to his pod in the jail, the sheriff’s office said. Lynch did not cooperate when corrections deputies determined that he should be moved to another area of the jail, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies restrained Lynch, and he later experienced a medical emergency, the sheriff’s office said. Lynch was taken by ambulance to a local medical facility’s intensive care unit. He died at about 11:40 a.m. Sunday, according to the sheriff’s office.

The medical examiner’s office sent out a news release Wednesday stating that the cause and manner of Lynch’s death is pending. Vancouver police major crimes detectives are leading the investigation into the incident.
