Union Lacrosse opened its season with three non-league wins, beating Century of Hillsboro, Ore., 12-9, Central Valley of Spokane 16-3 and Wenatchee 10-5.
Trey Chambers had nine goals and 13 assists in the there games for Union. Payton Summers scored 10 goals, Ben Morasch eight goals and Parker Lindhorst six goals and five assists. Also tallying goals during the week were Chandler Lindhorst (four) and Andrew Harrah.
Goalie Dominic Mendez made 15 saves against Central Valley.
Union, which draws players who live within the Evergreen Public Schools boundary, plays host to Sheldon of Eugene at 5 p.m. today at Shahala Middle School.
Camas wins pair — Camas opened its season with wins over Wenatchee on Friday and Central Valley on Saturday.
In the 12-9 win over Wenatchee, Austin Garwood and Harrison Martin scored four goals apiece. Kannon Brochette collected 13 ground balls and goalie Goalie Jake Lambert had six saves.
In Saturday’s 8-4 win over Central Valley, Garwood scored five goals and won seven faceoffs. Lambert made eight saves and Bradley Stanchfield had two assists.
Camas visits Oregon City on Wednesday for another non-league match.
Columbia River drops three — The program formerly known as King’s Way Lacrosse fell to 0-4 in non-league matches with losses to three Oregon schools. Tigard beat Columbia River 10-7 on March 17, Beaverton beat Columbia River 15-8 on Friday and Southridge beat Columbia River 11-10 on Saturday.
Brian Prigmore had four goals and eight assists across the three matches last week. Mike Johnson had six goals and three assists including five goals on Saturday at Southridge.
Columbia River’s next match is March 31 against Glencoe of Hillsboro.
Evergreen girls lacrosse — Evergreen Girls Lacrosse beat Sumner 15-3 on Saturday to improve to 3-0 on the season. Senior Maddie McKinnon had six goals and freshman Olivia Hood scored four goals. Cassidy Morris had three 3 assists and three ground-ball controls.
Evergreen plays its next three games on the road, visiting Kennedy of Burien at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Spanaway Lake at 6 p.m. Saturday and at Curtis of University Place at 5 p.m. on March 31.
High school rugby
Union opened the high school boys rugby season on Saturday with a 56-7 win over the Portland Pumas.
Scoring tries for the Titans were Trevon Turner, Jake Burchett, Tyler Dionne, Tate Nelson, Caleb Browning, Austin Holloway, Chris Berry and Brendon Curle.
Union returns most of its players from the team that finished second to Prairie last season in the Rugby Oregon High School Varsity Premiership.
Also on Saturday, Newberg beat Prairie 19-0. The result of the Battle Ground match against Lincoln of Portland was not reported.
On Friday between 5 and 7:30 p.m., Union, Battle Ground and Prairie will play a round-robin jamboree at Laurin Middle School.
In girls rugby, Grant beat Battle Ground 35-0 on Saturday. The Battle Ground girls will take on Highlanders at 11 a.m. this Saturday at Laurin Middle School.
