A gunman was still at large Tuesday after fleeing from the scene of a shooting and car crash Monday afternoon on Northeast Andresen Road in Vancouver. Police say the incident was a case of domestic violence.
Vancouver Police Department investigators determined that someone in a tan car fired shots at a pickup on Andresen near 40th Street, said agency spokeswoman Kim Kapp. The vehicles continued south on Andresen, then collided in the parking lot near a Sherwin-Williams paint store. The crash pushed the car into a utility pole in front of Napa Auto Parts, 1820 N.E. Andresen Road, Kapp said.
The passengers in the car sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, Kapp said. Their names were not released Tuesday because the case involved domestic violence, Kapp said.
The three people in the pickup were not injured.
Late Monday, Vancouver police identified Juventino Valencia-Mendoza, 45, as both the driver of the car and the alleged shooter. SWAT members helped with the search, Kapp said.
