Mark Morris beats W.F. West 69-53 for 2A girls title

YAKIMA — Tournament MVP Kourtney Eaton dominated the court Saturday, leading Mark Morris to a 69-53 win over W.F. West of Chehalis in the Class 2A girls state championship.

Eaton scored 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds seven on the offensive end while dishing out eight assists, blocking two shots and coming up with two steals while committing no turnovers.

Her sister, Karley, scored a game-high 24 points on 7-of-13 shooting including six 3-pointers for the Monarchs.

After trading points early in the game, Mark Morris (25-2) built an eight-point lead by the end of the first quarter, and W.F. West never got closer.

It was the second title for Mark Morris in three years, after beating W.F. West for the championship in 2013. W.F. West beat the Monarchs for the 2014 title.

Tiana Parker led W.F. West (22-4) with 17 points and Julie Spencer chipped in 13 and grabbed 15 rebounds. Both were all-tournament selections.

Rounding out the all-tourney first team was Kendall Bird of White River.
