Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center is hosting a “Be the Match” registry drive this month.

Be the Match is the largest and most diverse marrow registry in the world. More than 12,000 patients each year are diagnosed with life-threatening diseases, such as leukemia. Their best chance for a cure often is a transplant from someone outside their family. Be the Match helps to connect patients with unrelated donors.

The registry drive is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 18 in the first floor lobby of Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, 2211 N.E. 139th St. Anyone who is 18 to 44 years old is eligible for the screening.

The test involves a simple mouth swab. No appointment is necessary.

For more information about the screening event, contact Chris Bogan at 503-413-7857. For more information about Be the Match, visit www.bethematch.org.
