A Vancouver man appeared in Clark County Superior Court on Tuesday morning for allegedly ramming two police cars in the Sifton area. Although the vehicles were damaged, nobody was hurt.

Josh L. McCabe, 33, is housed at Clark County Jail in lieu of $40,000 bail. He faces allegations of second-degree assault, third-degree driving with a suspended license and driving under the influence.

McCabe was allegedly driving a green 1995 Toyota Avalon that Clark County sheriff’s Deputy David Miller pulled over around 4 p.m. Monday. The Avalon pulled into the parking lot of Eastridge Business Park, 12115 N.E. 99th St., but the driver wouldn’t acknowledge Miller or roll down his window, so the deputy called for backup, according to Sgt. Randon Walker.

Miller tried to open the driver’s door to detain the driver for refusing to cooperate. The driver locked his door, put the Avalon into reverse and slammed into the deputy’s patrol car, Walker said. The Avalon went forward, hitting a parked car, and crashed head-on into another patrol car that was entering the parking lot to assist Miller, according to documents filed in Superior Court.

The Avalon left the parking lot through another exit, the documents said.

The car traveled east on Northeast 99th Street and south on Northeast 134th Avenue into a residential area before parking in front of a house, Walker said. Police canvassed the area and quickly arrested McCabe.

The Avalon was not registered to McCabe, Walker said. McCabe was supposed to use an interlock device to drive, but did not have one, Walker said. He’s employed and on probation for a prior DUI, according to court documents.

His next court appearance is scheduled for March 13.
