Blind athlete association fundraiser raises $175,000

A dinner and auction held on behalf of the Northwest Association for Blind Athletes raised nearly $175,000, according to the organization.

The event, held Saturday at the Hilton in downtown Vancouver, included five athletes sharing their stories to help raise money for sports and recreational programs.

The organization serves individuals of all ages who are blind and visually impaired throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. Its goal is to enrich lives of the blind and visually impaired by adapting the practices of more than 10 sports and hosting events and providing scholarships.
