A Vancouver woman is suing for injuries she sustained when she reportedly slipped and fell in a puddle of water inside a local Albertsons grocery store.

Traci Crowley filed the lawsuit in Clark County Superior Court on June 22, alleging the store failed to provide reasonably safe conditions and did not clearly mark the hazard. The defendants are New Albertsons Inc., Albertsons LLC and parent company SuperValu.

On July 8, 2012, Crowley was shopping at the Albertsons store at 8300 N.E. 137th Ave. near Padden Parkway. While walking near the floral department, Crowley reportedly slipped on some water that was partially covered by a loose rug or mat, and fell. She allegedly twisted her right knee and injured her right wrist while trying to brace her fall, the lawsuit says.

The lawsuit cites a leaking floral cooler as the cause of the water on the floor. It also alleges that employees knew about the leak because one employee had also been injured.

The lawsuit seeks damages for medical expenses, mental physical and emotional distress, pain and suffering, loss of wages, loss of enjoyment of life, and any other general damages not specified. It also seeks costs for general damages, special damages, attorney’s fees and other relief to be determined at trial.

Efforts to reach Crowley’s Vancouver attorney, Aaron Ritchie, and a regional spokeswoman for Albertsons were unsuccessful Monday.

The store where the injuries allegedly occurred was closed in February 2014.
