Fireworks are prohibited on Vancouver Public Schools’ ground and parking lots because of the increased fire risk this summer.
“Based on concerns about the unusually hot and dry conditions, we are taking added precautions to help ensure safety at all of our school sites,” said Todd Horenstein, assistant superintendent for facility support services.
The school district said security patrols will monitor activity at school campuses.
Although Hudson’s Bay High School’s parking lot is open for the July 4 celebration at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, setting off fireworks in the parking lot is still prohibited.
