A phone service outage reported Monday affected 911 communications in Ridgefield, according to CenturyLink.

Technicians worked to restore service after the outage, caused by a cut fiber, affected 2,057 customers, CenturyLink spokesman Ryan Noll said. The CenturyLink service was restored by Monday evening, he said.

Noll said it is unclear when the cut happened. During the outage, the company advised that in case of emergency, residents in the area should go to the nearest police or fire station. Three fire stations in the area are at:

o 911 N. 65th Ave., Ridgefield.

o 414 E. Cedar Ave., La Center.

o 505 N.W. 179th St. #110, Ridgefield.

The Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency advised that residents in the impacted area should use their wireless phones to call 911 during an emergency, or ask to borrow the phone of a neighbor who doesn’t have a CenturyLink line. They also asked people not to call 911 just to test if it works.
