A Vancouver woman accused of pulling a steak knife on two people and threatening to stab them made a first appearance in Clark County Superior Court on Friday.

Julie F. Donahue-Hansen, 50, faces allegations of two counts of second-degree assault in connection with the incident. She was arrested shortly after noon on Thursday.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Superior Court, one of the alleged victims was delivering some medication when Donahue-Hansen reportedly “came at her” two times with the steak knife. A second victim said she also lunged at him with the knife and said, “I have a knife and I am not afraid to use it.” Donahue-Hansen then allegedly held the knife over her head and made a downward motion as if she was stabbing someone.

During her hearing Friday, Donahue-Hansen repeatedly denied assaulting anyone.

Judge Suzan Clark asked if she would like a court-appointed attorney. “If I don’t have a lawyer, can I go home now?” Donahue-Hansen asked.

Clark appointed attorney Heather Carroll to represent her.

Carroll said it’s obvious that Donahue-Hansen suffers from significant mental health issues.

Her bail was set at $40,000. She is scheduled to be arraigned July 10.
