Fort’s July 4 entertainment schedule set

Teen vocal competition will kick off musical acts

Teen vocalists in a noon sing-off will raise the curtain on 10 hours of July 4 entertainment at Independence Day at Fort Vancouver.

The annual “Sing Fourth” competition will feature 10 Clark County high school students who advanced through May auditions to reach the Vancouver Toyota Main Stage.

The finalists announced by the Fort Vancouver National Trust are: Lauren Barton, Kaleb Burris, Isaac Dizon, Mia Josberger, Danielle Lorange, Tirza Meuljic, Bella Olsen, Becca Weinberg, Hannah Wilson and Hannah Wrightson. Grace Cunningham and Samantha Dearing are alternates.

A panel of local musicians, including some who will perform later in the evening, will select the winners. College scholarships will be awarded to the first- ($1,000), second- ($500) and third-place ($250) finishers.

Other activities and attractions throughout the site include: guided walking tours of the Vancouver Barracks; Kids’ Patriotic Parade presented by Fred Meyer; $3 admission to the National Park Service’s Fort Vancouver (free for age 15 and under); tours of the Gen. George C. Marshall House; costumed interpreters who will bring history to life; a hands-on-history tent illustrating heritage handwork skills; and adult beverage pavilion.
