Small-business owners gathered Thursday in a show of opposition to a proposal to build what would be the nation’s largest rail-to-marine oil transfer terminal at the Port of Vancouver.

Speakers included Don Orange, who runs Vancouver-based Hoesly Eco Auto & Tire, where the event was held. It featured a photo display of 101 small businesses that oppose the oil terminal proposed by Tesoro Corp., a petroleum refiner, and Savage Cos., a transportation company.

After the event, several attendees traveled to Olympia in Tesla and hybrid vehicles. They did so to urge Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, who has the final say over the state-level review of the oil terminal, to reject it.
