Urban Forestry leads tour of Vancouver’s most famous trees

Esther Short — City of Vancouver Urban Forestry staff members led a four-mile guided Heritage Tree Bicycle Tour on June 16, where guests traveled around and learned about some of the city’s most notable trees. Some of the 10 stops on the tour were a grove of trees on the south side of Marshall Community Park dedicated to each of Vancouver’s mayors, and the Old Apple Tree, planted in 1826 at Fort Vancouver. According to a release from the Urban Forestry department, the Old Apple Tree is “oldest living apple tree in the Pacific Northwest and is considered the matriarch of Washington’s apple industry.”
