East Vancouver — Dogs at the Humane Society of Southwest Washington will have a bit more room to run around now thanks to the completion of the “Freedom Fence,” two enclosed off-leash areas outside of the building. The area was funded by donors, staff, volunteers and the community, with one area for bigger dogs and another area for smaller ones. The areas will allow dogs to run and play and serve as an outdoor space for introductions with potential adopters and other dogs in their families. It will also work as a space for play and interaction between dogs, which will give staff and volunteers a chance to see how they interact, according to a release from the organization. The society is also offering a $10 “Wise Whiskers” adoption special every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in June for all cats ages 3 and older.
