Two women who work in law enforcement will share their stories as part of an ongoing conversation series hosted by a local women’s group.

Clark County Sheriff’s Office Cmdr. Erin Nolan and Ridgefield Police Chief Carrie Greene will be sharing their perspectives at “Women Who Carry Guns — A Look at Women in Law Enforcement,” at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Grant House, 1101 Officers Row.

The event is hosted by H-Roc, a Vancouver-based organization dedicated to advancing women leaders, and is part of its Cocktails and Conversations series.

Nolan began her career as a deputy in 1987 and has served the sheriff’s office as the chief criminal deputy and the chief civil deputy, as well as serving as interim chief of police in both Ridgefield and La Center. She is currently the commander of the agency’s west precinct.

Nolan is the mother of three, a certified personal trainer and an avid half-marathon runner.

Greene began her career in law enforcement with the Washington State Patrol in 1979. In the 25 years she spent at the agency, she worked in positions including field operations, safety education and narcotics. She climbed the ranks to captain and was the agency’s first female commander of a district. Three years after retiring from state patrol, Greene became Chief of Ridgefield Police Department in 2007.

Greene volunteers in her community and at her church, and enjoys working on her Ridgefield farm with her family.

Members of H-Roc are welcome at no cost. Nonmembers are invited to attend for $10. Limited seating is available. Reservations are required and can be made at www.h-roc.org or by emailing letstalk@h-roc.org .
