Three people were killed and three others injured Saturday night in a head-on crash on state Highway 14 in Skamania County, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash occurred about 8:15 p.m. near Milepost 33, when an eastbound mid-sized pickup and westbound minivan crashed head-on, said WSP Sgt. Nate Hovinghoff.

Two adults and one child died in the crash, Hovinghoff said. One of the fatalities was in the pickup, while the other two were in the minivan.

Hovinghoff said a child was airlifted to a hospital, while an adult and another child were transported via ambulance.

Names were withheld pending notification of next of kin. Information about the city of residence of those involved in the crash was not available.

The highway was expected to be closed for an extended period Saturday night. Non-truck traffic was being routed around the crash scene on county roads, Hovinghoff said.
