Three homeless people accused in an armed robbery made first appearances Friday morning in Clark County Superior Court.
Brandi S. Pelagalli, 44, appeared on suspicion of first-degree robbery. Clark County Deputy Prosecutor Randy St. Clair said Pelagalli was the primary assailant in the incident, as she was reportedly armed with a knife. Pelagalli denies possessing a knife.
Two other co-defendants, Rhonda L. Robb, 50, and Bryce Angstrom-Schweitzer, 21, face allegations of first-degree robbery and first-degree criminal impersonation.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Superior Court, police responded Thursday to 1814 Z St. The victim, Sarah M. Ingram, said she was robbed by two females, one of whom had a knife. They took three bicycles and silver jewelry.
Two witnesses said a woman, later identified as Pelagalli, threatened to punch and hit Ingram if she didn’t give her the items as collateral for a debt, according to court records.
Pelagalli reportedly had a pocket knife visible in her waistband and told Ingram there was a group of people down the road she would call to come and hurt her if she didn’t cooperate, an affidavit says.
Police located two women matching the description of the suspects at Waterworks Park. The women were with two men, one of whom was identified as Angstrom-Schweitzer. The stolen bicycles and jewelry were found with them, according to court documents.
Angstrom-Schweitzer and Robb allegedly gave police false identities. They were subsequently arrested, along with Pelagalli, the affidavit says.
During their Friday hearings, each was appointed an attorney.
St. Clair said all three have criminal histories and that Robb has a pending case in drug court.
Judge Daniel Stahnke set bail at $60,000 bail for Pelagalli, $50,000 for Robb and $35,000 for Angstrom-Schweitzer. All are scheduled to be arraigned June 26.
