Hough — The Clark County councilors meeting on June 9 was overrun with child-size butterflies, as 50 Hough Elementary School second-graders were on hand to accept a proclamation that the week of June 15-21 is Pollinator Week in the county. The students decorated their own pollinator wings to wear to the meeting. Prior to Pollinator Week, the second-graders learned about pollinators thanks to WSU Extension Clark County Master Gardener volunteers, and how pollinator populations, such as bees, butterflies and other insects vital to ecosystem health, are declining.
