Hough — The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington awarded a $25,000 grant to Second Step Housing for the organization’s Stepping Up to Eliminate Poverty Program, which is part of Second Step Housing’s Resident Sufficiency Program. The sufficiency program moves homeless persons into high-quality transitional housing and provides comprehensive case management services. According to a release from Second Step Housing, the program is expected to achieve a success rate of more than 90 percent of participants making the move into permanent housing. The funds will help Second Step assist families in acquiring the “effective skills and techniques that can help reduce the cycle of intergenerational poverty,” said Debby Dover, Second Step executive director, in the same release.
