A wildfire burned 10 acres of debris from a recent timber harvest on Thursday north of Washougal in the Yacolt Burn State Forest area.
The fire was reported around 1 p.m. southwest of the Jones Creek ATV Trailhead on land owned by the state Department of Natural Resources, said assistant region manager Chuck Turley.
“(It’s) not considered contained or controlled at this time, but they are making good progress on the fire,” Turley said Thursday evening.
Crews were using a bulldozer to build a trail around the fire to prevent it from spreading. Thirty inmates from the Larch Corrections Center were assisting firefighters with DNR and East County Fire & Rescue.
