Vancouver — Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center is hosting its annual Healthy Kids Fair this weekend.
The event is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the hospital, 2211 N.E. 139th St. The event is free.
Legacy Trauma Nurses Talk Tough will sell bike helmets for $6 and ensure a proper fit. The Legacy Child Passenger Safety Program will check car seats to make sure they’re properly installed and accept old car seats for recycling.
Kids will also have the opportunity to “operate” on a stuffed animal, tour an ambulance, play games and make crafts, among other activities.
New to the fair this year is Pet Partners, a group that brings therapy animals to the hospital. Some of those therapy animals will be at the event to interact with kids. Germ City, an interactive exhibit created by the Washington State University Extension, will return to teach kids the importance of handwashing.
Many of Legacy Salmon Creek’s units and departments will offer activities and information for children and families. The Salmon Creek Farmers Market, which holds a Tuesday market at the hospital July through September, will have vendors on site offering local produce. And numerous community and medical partners will also take part in the event.
